Saint Kizito (1872 – June 3, 1886) also known as Kizito Omuto, was one of the Martyrs of Uganda and the youngest martyr slain by the King Mwanga II of Buganda. He was baptized on 25/26 May 1886, by Charles Lwanga, the leader of Uganda's Christian community at the time, at Munyonyo, and burned alive on 3 June 1886 in Namugongo. He became the youngest Roman Catholic saint to be martyred, at the tender age of 14. Along with Lwanga and his companions, Kizito was beatified in 1920 by Pope Benedict XV and canonized on October 18, 1964, by Pope Paul VI. He is the patron saint of children and primary schools; his joint feast day with Lwanga and 20 others is June 3. It must be noted that when Charles Lwanga intuited the danger of killing Christians, he asked the children in the palace to go and hide but Kizito refused to go.
